Born in Bryn Mawr and raised in West Chester Pennsylvania, Monica Nask studied at the Rhode Island School of Design where she earned her BFA. While a designer for large apparel companies in NYC, Monica’s passion for fine art continued at the School of Visual Art and the New York Academy of Art. There she met and studied painting with a select group of artists. After 20 years in New York, recognizing her desire to paint and the need for space she moved to the coast of New Jersey. It is there that she discovered her love for the horizon. She pushes the boundaries between realism and abstraction in her landscape paintings. Monica uses palette knives to layer and scrape away paint on the canvas to create broad fields of color. The work is then recognizable as a landscape while allowing the viewer to travel in their own imagination. You can find Monica’s work exhibited throughout the Tri-states.
